Curriculum Overview
We believe a broad and balanced PSHE curriculum is vital to equip students with the necessary skills and attributes to be successful in the modern world. Therefore, our PSHE curriculum at Leventhorpe is designed so students develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe and prepared for life and work after leaving school. It is designed to have an impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes for pupils, allowing all our students the chance to flourish and grow in all aspects of life. Our vision for PSHE lessons is that they enable students to grow and make informed life choices both inside and outside of the classroom and when in their local communities.
Our programme of study aims to develop skills and attributes such as resilience, self-esteem, teamwork working and critical thinking in the context of three core themes: Living in the wider world, Relationships & Sex Education, and Physical & Mental Wellbeing. Our curriculum takes our students on a journey, building on previous lessons as they move through Key Stage 3 and into Key Stage 4. Key Stage 3 students receive one hour per fortnight of timetabled PSHE lessons. Year 10 students receive two hours per fortnight and Year 11 students one hour per fortnight of timetabled lessons.
