Drama

Drama is a popular subject at Leventhorpe and is taught at all key stages. The focus in the Department is on practical Drama and many opportunities are given for students to perform to both their classmates and outside audiences throughout their time here.

The Drama Studio is well equipped in terms of lighting and sound facilities and so students are also encouraged to involve themselves in the technical aspects of theatre whenever possible. Extra-curricular activities are an important part of the work in the Department and involve a lower school club, evening performances, in-house workshops and theatre visits.

Drama KS3 Curriculum Overview (Years 7 8 & 9)In Year 9 students may select Drama as an option and will have two lessons per week throughout the year. There are six contemporary schemes of work, each culminating in a short, assessed performance at the end of each half term to classmates. The course will involve practical drama games and techniques using a mixture of themes and scripts as a stimulus and is ideal for students considering Drama as a GCSE option or for those who enjoy working creatively in groups. There will also be one annual theatre trip.
