This afternoon saw the third in an exciting series of LIVE! and interactive BBC Young Reporter Workshops entitled 'Filming with a Smart Phone' with multimedia journalist and trainer, Natalie Hancock.

Students from Years 8 to 13 met in the new Sixth Form Common Room where Natalie was projected LIVE! via Zoom on the huge screen and could present and interact with the whole group.

The workshop gave advice on how to produce good film content, from the (all important) planning stage, the scipt and purpose as well as tips and advice on how to get the best out of your smartphone for filming.  Students were taught about sequencing and filming techniques as well as the importance of light, varying your film shots and being creative with ideas.

This workshop was a great introduction to the basics of filming on a smartphone and gave students an insight into how much work is involved in even the shortest of videos.

It was a fantastic opportunity to work with the BBC, who have offered further advice and support to Leventhorpe over the coming year, and participation in workshops such as these can give students useful advice and careers guidance in the media sector.

We look forward to the next BBC Workshop!

Huge thanks to Natalie Hancock (BBC Journalist/Multimedia Trainer) and Nazeem Akhtar (BBC Events Producer) for their time this afternoon.
