On Wednesday, 17th November, Leventhorpe’s BBC Young Reporters’ Club and English Faculty were delighted to welcome the BBC once again to deliver a fantastic podcasting workshop.

Hosted by the magnificent Leanne Alie, Commissioning Podcast Producer at the BBC and founder and host of the popular podcast, Coils, this workshop certainly delighted and inspired students and teachers alike!

Students gathered once more in the professional and welcoming surroundings of the sixth form common room to enjoy this interactive event, which was delivered via the sixth form’s newly installed audio-visual, surround sound system. Only the latest technology will do for our young reporters!

Ms Alie enlightened students on the range of podcasts now available on streaming platforms, such as BBC Sounds, and explained how podcasts are produced from conception to publication. Students listened to clips from genres including; True Crime, ‘Girl Chat’, Politics, Students’ Voice and News.

We have a professional recording studio in the music and drama department, so we hope that students will now feel knowledgeable enough and confident enough to create and record podcasts right here at Leventhorpe.
