This year Leventhorpe celebrated World Mental Health Day by supporting Young Minds’ #Hello Yellow Campaign.

Students and staff gave donations in order to embellish their uniforms with something YELLOW to raise awareness and show their support.  Our catering team even produced a yellow-theme menu at lunchtime!  Students were encourated to complete a Sensory Calming Plan during form time, a technique that helps us to use our senses to bring calm to stressful or overwhelming stiuations or feelings.

Reports suggest that at present 420,000 young people are being referred to the NHS for mental health issues EVERY MONTH, which is the highest since records began.

As a school we understand the importance of positive mental health for our young people and the impact this has on student development. We are committed to keeping Mental Health at the forefront of our minds and to increasing awareness and understanding these issues within Leventhorpe School.

Young Minds is a mental health charity specifically set up to support the emotional needs of young people. Their work is more vital than ever due to the significant increase in young people struggling with mental health issues. There is lots of support and practical advice for parents and young people on their website: www.youngminds.org.uk

Together the Leventhope community raised over £1,800.00 for Young Minds
