Canadian Cultural Exchange

Published on 23 May 2012

Following on from our successful teacher exchange in October 2011, we are organising a cultural exchange programme for our Year 11 students in early 2013.  Leventhorpe students will visit Montreal in February 2013, staying with students from Riverdale High School, for a week full of activities, including lessons at the school and a day's skiiing at one of Canada's skiing villages.  In March 2013 a group of students from Riverdale High School will then travel to England to stay with Leventhorpe families.

As part of the cultural exchange, students will be working with their counterparts in Montreal on the topic of migration and the impact it has had on both countries. This will be facilitated via video link or Skyping during school time. By the time we travel to Montreal, students should have developed a good relationship with students from our partner school. We hope this exciting visit will be both educational and good fun. In the past we have found such trips to be very motivating and confidence building, which has led to success in
the classroom and to an improvement in exam grades.

The exchange programme will not only be a fantastic opportunity to experience a different culture first hand and to share different ideas in lessons, it will also give language students the opportunity to practise their French.

If you have any queries, please, do not hesitate to contact Mrs Ball at school.
