Learning Beyond the Classroom!

Humanities KS3 Homework Projects

Humanities History, Geography and Religious Studies are each taught for two lessons per week. The Humanities Faculty departments work jointly on a number of cross-curricular enrichment activities ensuring that the Humanities provision extends beyond the classroom. During the year, students in Years 7 and 8 will undertake independent homework projects which will last for half a term.  There is one project per subject and the topics and timescales are displayed below.  In Year 7 students will have the opportunity to visit Rochester. Here they will develop their curiosity for the past by exploring Rochester Castle. They will develop their understanding of medieval monks and nuns by exploring Rochester Cathedral and finally they will hone their geographical skills by conducting a tourist survey in the high street. In Year 8 students have the opportunity to take part in a Great War battlefields tour. In Year 9 we run a RS/History trip to Krakow, where they will get the chance to visit Auschwitz.
