In Design and Technology we aim to provide our students with the tools to actively contribute to the creativity, culture, wealth and well-being of themselves, their community and their nation.

Design and Technology is an exciting and diverse subject in which intellectual planning meets practical application.  With dedicated teaching environments, manufacturing equipment and specialist teaching, Design and Technology provides students at Leventhorpe with the necessary tools to demonstrate their problem solving skills by managing their own projects from concept to realisation.  The faculty of Design and Technology at Leventhorpe utilises increasingly sophisticated resources such as parametric modelling software, laser cutters and 3D printers to introduce students to industry standard processes and techniques.

Throughout KS3, students are introduced to Graphic Product Design, Resistant Materials, Textiles, Electronics and Food Technology. At the end of year 9 they are given the option to study Design and Technology at GCSE. Students who complete their Design and Technology GCSE course with a grade B or higher, then have the option to study Product Design or Fashion & Textiles.

In Design and Technology, students are given the opportunity to participate in competitions with local schools, exhibit their work in the annual Design and Technology show and fashion show, attend extra-curricular clubs at lunchtime and visit various museums and workplaces to enrich their learning experience.
